A Fresh Start

It does not take long to make strong heart connections when you are open to friendship and love. This season in Bakersfield has brought beautiful people who have beautiful hearts into my life to stay. For that, I am so grateful.

After only a short time in Bakersfield, it became clear this is not our forever home. A mixture of the area, not assimilating into the community well and differing values within the organization we serve brought us to the clarity that it is time to move forward. Nothing about this decision was quick or easy, but it is certain.

There is no easy way to say hard things and make messy changes. After starting great conversations and asking good questions we slowly made some transition decisions and will be doing so soon. We gave so much love and respect to this organization.

Moving forward with confidence, clarity, and a pocket full of hope.

We get to call the beautiful state of Utah our next adventure and ministry focus and we could not be more excited! God’s goodness is always evident in our lives and like only He can, He orchestrated a connection so incredible that we are still in awe of the details of this plan. For over 4 years we got the honor of doing youth ministry alongside Rick Henderson and for 7 years with Shane Lingo who are both now serving as pastors at a multisite church called SMCC in the wonderful Salt Lake City area of Utah. Rob and I now get to be reunited with our friends and also connect with the shared passion of being Jesus to people who need Him. Rob will be the Worship Pastor at a newly planted, but thriving campus in the West Jordan area. {Insert ‘woo hoo’ and an embarrassingly bad cartwheel here!}

When I say we could not be more excited I am not over exaggerating, my friends. The mission and values of this church are so powerful and full of both logic and passion that we cannot help but give our lives to the good that God is doing there. The community is so overwhelmingly open and authentic. Not only do we already have friends there but the staff and church body all live as a family. It is so extraordinary and straight out of Acts. They already inspire, support, and encourage us the only way great friends can.

We’ll continue to update and share about our upcoming journey, thank you so much for praying and following along!
