Adopted Ones…

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.  God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.

Ephesians 1:4-5

God’s love for us is proved in His adoption of us. Adoption is a choice that takes fight and grit. It’s messy and requires everything. Not one part of our lives are unaffected by this process. Our home, family, friends, work environment, finances, bodies, strangers who read our story, our prayer life, church, our relationship and hearts… heck, even our dog.  The whole make of us is touched by this decision.  There is no rest from this pursuit.

What a blessing it is to these weary hearts. This deep in, I can say with confidence that it is so incredibly worth it. Our child is already so loved and desired. He’s wanted in this family. So we run. We work. We fight. We cry. We break. We reach out. We beg for prayer and covet support of all kinds. We will never stop until our child is home. Our love is great.

Sound familiar? In this season, we get to live out and feel a tiny piece of the journey our God set out on for our own adoption. His is love so much stronger than we can ever know. He knew the messy before the pursuit began and still He set out after us. Every part of Him was consumed by the drive to bring us home.

Oh what a mighty God we serve.

What mountains where moved for our hearts? What roads were crawled for our love? This side of heaven we only know in part, but we can rest in the fact that we own the heart of God. He won’t stop. We are loved. We are chosen. We are His adopted ones.blog_love copy

  1. It has been so neat reading about the process of adoption you all are going through. Thank you for sharing the ups and downs of your emotions through this process as God molds you two into new parents. We are so happy for you two and the future your new family will have together.
